5 Ways to Save Money on Golf

One of the very first things people think about when they think about getting into golf is the price. It is without a doubt a very expensive sport/hobby. With the expansion and growth of the game of golf, prices seem to be rising. This article will help you save money golfing and still enjoy it to it’s fullest.

BUY USED GOLF BALLS TO SAVE MONEY PLAYING GOLF

Whether you are just starting or have been playing for a while, this can save you a lot of money per season. In my experience, it is only a small number of golfers that benefit greatly from using a specific golf ball. I would attest that any amount of consistency in your equipment can help a lot. However, for the amateur golfer, this may not make a big difference.

Often at the beginning of the season, you can find bags of 60 used/refurbished golf balls for under $20. You can find these deals at your local Wal-Mart.

The golf balls you will find in them are top brands just been refurbished. I have found some pretty good-condition Titleist balls in a few of them.

I have also brought a handful of used balls with me to the course even though I had my usual box of balls with me. If the round was going bad or there was a lot of water on the course I would resort to the used balls and save a few bucks, should I continue to lose more balls.

PLAY DURING THE OFF-SEASON (FALL/SPRING) TO SAVE MONEY PLAYING GOLF

At almost every course in the world, pricing will differ depending on the season. Peak summer months will always be the most expensive as that is when the product (the golf course) is at Its best. If you don’t mind playing when it’s a little colder or maybe the course is a little wet or hard, this will save you money on every round.

In addition to the savings, the course will be less filled with golfers, and you’ll play at a good pace. This is very beneficial for golfers who are just learning to play. Without having the stress of being pushed by the group behind you, you will be more relaxed and focused.

WALK INSTEAD OF RENTING A CART TO SAVE MONEY ON GOLF

Whenever we first get into golf, the most exciting part is always getting to speed around the golf course in a cart. Most times, we never actually walk, so we never get into the rhythm and end up carting through our entire golf journey. I fell victim to this as well.

However, when I first started walking not only did, I save money, but I fell in love with the game of golf even more. Walking the course makes the game more intimate. Every shot feels more focused. You feel more accomplished after each round, and it helps your budget. What a great duo!

BUY SECOND-HAND CLUBS TO SAVE MONEY ON GOLF

Everybody always wants to get the best equipment. It’s normal. For first-time golfers, you can most likely get an old set from someone in your family who golfs. However, when it’s time to upgrade you can still save money by getting used clubs. If you’re unsure when that time is, read my article on buying new golf clubs HERE.

There are many places you can get used golf clubs. Some of the most popular are; Golf AvenueGolftownPGA Superstore, & 2nd Swing. These places offer everything from the highest-end newer golf clubs to the old technology golf clubs. Most of my friends buy from these places and have never had a complaint. Some places even let you rent them to test first before you buy!

PLAY TWILIGHT ROUNDS TO SAVE MONEY ON GOLF

If you’ve never heard of the “Twilight” round you’re missing out. This is when you play a round closer to sundown. Most golf courses will offer specials for this hour as it is a less booked time for golf. The experience is a feast for the eyes on those summer evenings. The pink sky and some good friends are a wonderful mix. Not only will it be discounted but some people would argue it’s the best time to play!

While golf undeniably carries a reputation for being an expensive sport, there are practical ways for enthusiasts, especially amateurs, to enjoy the game without breaking the bank. By implementing some of these money-saving strategies, individuals can make golf more accessible and budget-friendly. Hope this helps you golf more!
